How ACAM Works

A HELPER TO THE HELPERS

The ACAM Process Presentation

The process depicted above helps ACAM build nonprofit capacity to increase organizational sustainability and help groups proactively respond to growing and changing community needs. For more information about a specific program, click the appropriate side-bar link under “About ACAM.”

·········
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
·········
Prospective members are basic needs providers that provide two or more of the following: food, case management, clothing, employment services, financial assistance for rent and/or utilities, school supplies/uniforms or transportation. They are faith-based in mission, vision and origin, without requiring a particular expression of faith or participation in religious activity as a basis for receiving services. By joining ACAM, organizations commit to building their capacity in areas such as board development and fundraising.

·········
ACAM GOVERNANCE AND STRUCTURE
·········
Energized by the success of our three-year pilot phase (ZCAM ODP), ACAM was formalized in January 2008. Click here for more information on our history.
Like ZCAM ODP, ACAM is a designated fund of the Greater Houston Community Foundation (GHCF). Funds are located at and managed by GHCF, and ACAM is under its 501(c)(3) status.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
ACAM is governed by an Executive Committee comprised of funders and ministry executive directors who are elected by their peers.
Sandy Faucett, CEO, Katy Christian Ministries
Linda May, President and Executive Director, The Simmons Foundation
Mike Shirl, Executive Director, Wesley Community Center
Carolyn Watson, Program Officer, Rockwell Fund, Inc. (Chair)

Because ACAM is under the 501(c)(3) status of the
Greater Houston Community Foundation, ACAM’s board for legal purposes is that of the Greater Houston Community Foundation.
